Six RFCS projects coordinated by Eurecat presented at the Steel Tech Congress

Eurecat has participated as exhibitor of the Steel Tech 2023 this week in Bilbao Exhibition Center from October 25-27. Amongst the center capacities in the steel sector, information on six Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS)-funded projects COOPHS, HELIX, SuPreAM, NewAIMS, Sup3rForm and MiPRE was displayed and presented.

Eurecat ranks as the first Spanish technology center in attracting funds from the RFCS European programme, enhancing steel additive manufacturing, boosting lightweight structural applications, and promoting hydrogen embrittlement-resistant steel solutions.

RFCS projects presented promote the optimization of steel mechanical properties to improve its use in sectors such as the automotive and aeronautics industry, while seeking to achieve a reduction in defects, manufacturing costs and carbon dioxide emissions carbon in its manufacturing processes, increasing the decarbonisation of the industry.

During Steel Tech, Eurecat also organised a workshop on October 26 on “Tenacity in steel: key to the development of light, high-performance components” by Dr. Daniel Casellas, Scientific Director of Eurecat and adjunct professor at Lulea Technical University (LTU). The participation of the center at Steel Tech also included the presentation of the poster “Effect of Hydrogen of Fracture Toughness of Advanced High Strength Steels”.

Steel Tech is the international reference event in southern Europe for the steel sector bringing together the main key players of the entire value chain in a space where knowledge transfer, technological innovation and networking are the fundamental tools to promote intersectoral relationships and do business.
