The HELIX consortium gathers in Germany for its second year meeting

Partners from the HELIX project have met physically on the occasion of the second year meeting, marking the equator of the initiative. The meeting took place on March 5th-7th at the headquarters of PEINER and DÖRKEN in Germany.

During the meeting, each partner presented the tasks performed until then and introduced the next steps to be taken.

The consortium has already selected the new steels and new coatings to produce large size bolts (M42 and M64) for the final phase of the project: component validation in a real environment.

In this phase, preloaded bolts of 10.9 and 12.9 steel grades will be exposed to harsh atmospheric conditions and in seawater under cathodic protection.

These tests will bring the consortium closer to the final objective of the project, which is to develop, test and provide fasteners able to withstand high applied stresses under harsh environmental conditions typical of large offshore wind turbines.
