Presenting HELIX results at the AKI 2024 conference

Kateřina Žambochová, Head of Testing Laboratory at Technopark Kralupy of the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, participated in the 27th conference of the Association of Czech and Slovak Corrosion Engineers (AKI), held on November 6th-8th, 2024, at the Hotel Castle in Valeč (Czech Republic).

During her talk “Inorganic Zinc flake-based coatings resistant to immersion and atmospheric conditions”, she covered the first two years of testing of the Zn-flake based coatings as part of the HELIX project.

Moreover, the presentation showcased the coatings corrosion protection in accelerated corrosion tests and immersion tests, the coating performance in mechanical tests (slow strain rate test) and the reduction of hydrogen entry thanks to the coatings by scanning Kelvin probe technique.

The AKI conference is a traditional meeting of corrosion engineers from the applied and academic spheres. It presents an opportunity for constructive dialogue between practitioners from the chemical, energy, petrochemical and other industries, as well as corrosion researchers.

The conference opened with a symposium dedicated to microbial corrosion in the energy industry. The second day was devoted to thematic blocks like anti-corrosion protection by surface treatments, corrosion of storage devices and cathodic protection or corrosion in the atmosphere.
